I think Carolina's defense allows them to beat the Rams straight up...

I'm taking CAR on the moneyline next week.
1. strong strong running game
2. strong strong defense
3. strong strong special teams
4. decent passing game

Rams' defense stinks and I don't think bulger will win it for the rams.

Rams defense is quite good at causing TO's at home. And Delhomme will come back to earth next week on the road. Rams will run them out of the building. But will they cover the spread?

lol "rams defense is NOT THAT BAD." that sums it up buddy....in order to win in the nfl, you must have a GOOD defense. not that bad will get you crushed by a good defense and a decent offense.

Identity, Im pretty sure Rams defense ranks in upper half of NFL, which truly isnt "that bad"....lol....put that together with their offense, especially in their house, and that spells trouble for most opponents....Have to see what the line is.....Has it been released yet, if not, should be any time. I'll say it opens at 7......

I always thought that the defense rankings (and probably the offense rankings also) were somewhat faulty because they did not take in strength of schedule. I had the feeling that Dallas (#1 defense ranking) was really not that good because it was obtained at the expense of mostly 2nd tier teams. I used that as my main handicapping tool and was on Carolina who showed up the vaunted Dallas defense with a strong offensive performance. (I think they gained about 400 yards)

I have the same feeling with the Carolina defense. I haven't reviewed their schedule, but how many strong offensive teams did they face? I think St Louis may show them up, like they did to Dallas.

7.5 at Pin and Oly

Question is, if you like Car should you eat this up or wait for more points? St Loo is such a public team, might get pushed to 8ish. I'm leaning towards waiting.

Dallas' D was a litte more than pretty good and look what they did. Also, the Rams have problems against the run don't they?

Car ain't intimidated by pass happy dome teams either. They knocked off Indy in their dome when they were peaking. (knocked off the Saints in their dome too)

Every year, players get all hyped up after the first week of games and the teams that win look "great", and could go all the way.

Don't underestimate the week off
